Smoke Free Restaurants in Arlington
The Civic Federation in its Legislative Package has called for state legislation to permit Arlington to adopt a law banning smoking in our restaurants.
Restaurants have no-smoking areas, but if smoking is permitted nearby or in the bar the smoke migrates to the non-smokers' tables anyway. So we only list genuine smoke-free restaurants. Here is a list of the ones we know of. We are not making any judgments on their food, but you can be sure that you will not encounter secondary smoke!
We are grateful to the County staff for surveying restaurants in 2006 and providing us the list of those they found who are smoke free. That added many new ones to the list below.

Limited Smoking
This section is for establishments with smoking areas that are sufficiently isolated from regular patrons to ensure that your clothes will not smell like smoke when you get home. Any restaurant where you walk through smoke to get in, get to the restrooms or telephones, or are exposed to smoke without really seeking it out will not be listed. It was inspired by the Clarendon Ballroom, where smoking is permitted only on the roof. We will not list a restaurant here unless a Federation rep has checked it out on a weekend night and found the smoke free area truly smoke free.

In Washington DC all DC restaurants and bars, with the exception of cigar bars, are now legally required to be smoke free. Washington DC has a Web site devoted to promoting smoke-free environments.
