Director, Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources

Arlington, VA 22201

Dear Mr. Tiwari,

We would like to thank you for your participation in the August 23 meeting of the Park and Recreation Committee of the Arlington County Civic Federation and for arranging David Millers excellent briefing, at the same meeting, on storm damage in the Countys parks.

As you know, debris left behind by the storm, together with damage to trails and bridges, made it necessary to close some parks. However, DPRCR responded rapidly with a large-scale and well-coordinated effort to deal with the storm damage. As a result of these efforts, most parks could be re-opened to visitors within a few days.

We would like to commend the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources for its quick and effective response to the storm.

Yours truly,

Jay Jacob Wind
Co-Chair, Park and Recreation Committee
