This full color 2005 Calendar features historic homes and buildings in Arlington. Fifty-two Drew Model Elementary School 5th graders drew the pictures, researched, and wrote the historical facts about the sites featured in the calendar. The calendar is available for $10.

The historical buildings in the calendar can be found in several Arlington neighborhoods:

It includes structures in several neighborhoods:

  • Eastman-Fenwick / Arl- East Falls Church
  • Ball Sellers / Glen Carlyn
  • Harry Gray House / Arlington View
  • Alcova House / Alcova Heights
  • Doubleday Mansion / Woodmont
  • Hume School / Arlington Ridge
  • Carlin Hall / Glen Carlyn
  • Drew House / Penrose
  • Arlington House / Arlington National Cemetery

Drew Art Teacher Constance Usova designed the project and worked with an Arlington historian. The project brought art and social studies together to help students achieve important Social Studies and Art Virginia Standards of Learning(SOL). The project also builds on Drew School's parnership with the Kennedy Center: Changing Education Through the Arts (CETA) Program.

The project was funded with a grant from the Arlington Historical Society, the Washington Post, and Delegate Adam Ebbin, 49th District. The Drew Model School Association and Arlington ReMax Realtor Mike Webb helped defray the printing costs. The proceeds of the calendar sale will benefit Drew's Art Program as well as other programs at the public school.
