Civic Hero Award
October 2, 2001
The Honorable Benjamin Winslow
The Arlington County Civic Federation takes pleasure in extending greetings and sincerest appreciation to Mr. Ben Winslow, an individual who has made a difference in Arlington. Furthermore, the Civic Federation is pleased to declare Mr. Winslow an "Arlington Civic Hero" in recognition of his many contributions to our community.
A long time resident of Arlington County, Mr. Winslow, is a true stalwart of the Civic Federation and an exemplary citizen of this County. As a Civic Federation member in long standing, he has served on multiple committees, helped organize numerous events, attended uncounted meetings and always made himself available to help any Federation member with any problem at any time. As President of the Optimists, he spearheaded charitable efforts, devoting long hours of his time to helping others. As an Arlington County Board Member, Mr. Winslow served with distinction, working to expand home ownership opportunities for all citizens, reached out to minority groups and always acted with humility and civility to every Arlingtonian. As a civic activist, he can take great pride in helping to establish the Arlington Black Heritage Museum and having noted the approach of Arlington's third century, conceived the notion of celebrating the County's Bicentennial.
Most importantly, it should be noted that time after time, when members of this Federation have turned to Mr. Winslow for advice in working with the County to solve a problem or when they were in need of a "civic-hand" getting a worthy project started, he has always been there, showing a sincere interest, understanding, respect and dignity for all of his fellow citizens. Mr. Winslow's service to our community is deeply appreciated and worthy of this recognition as an Arlington County Civic Federation "Civic Hero."
On Behalf Of A Grateful Civic Federation,
